Well, I like the idea that the iceman (why didn't they name him Ty, instead of the name with the umlaut in it?) was kind of a renegade survivor. Perhaps he was one of the last few representatives of his tribe in the area (maybe he lived off of stolen meat). His clothes where worn, and had been repaired with less care than they were originally made; in more peaceful times, perhaps. At first, I assumed the reason he had no finished arrows (except the two that were too long for his quiver) was because he used them all in his recent battle. However, maybe he had a friend/clansman that was with him, whose blood was on his cloak. Perhaps this imaginary friend tried to resusitate Oetzi and this is why his equipment was placed neatly to the side (not something a dead man could do) and some of his clothing was removed. Anyway, this is not really original, but he would not have to be a herder to have domestic animal skin clothing. I wonder if the copper under his nails (and in his lungs) could have been from an earlier time, or if he would have been smelting recently before his death? I never get tired thinking about Oetzi, and stone age times, and I'm glad for people who want check things out with modern tech.

A sepherd makes more sense than a hunter, honestly. We are talking of the Chalcolithic period, when hunting had become a quite marginal activity.

It also may suggest why he was attacked: cattle robbers maybe. Anyhow the alps was the diffuse border between two distinct cultures, so maybe "international" border skirmishes could be a reason as well.
